The Dream is ALIVE

Hello blog readers!  It is September 10, 2015.  I have not posted on this blog since May.  For that I am truly sorry.  But for what I did with my time, I am not…

My life has changed drastically for the good!

  1. I enrolled in real estate school this summer and became a licensed Real Estate Agent in the state of Texas last week.
  2. I have developed a great relationship with my girlfriend
  3. I will be moving into her house and out of this apartment in the next couple weeks
  4. We went furniture shopping together.  Bought a iComfort bed that is sweet as hell!  It is remote controlled to raise the head and feet.  Wow….  We are remodeling one of her rooms to become my “Man Room”.
  5. The girls have new beds being shipped for their room
  6. My educational career is doing great.  It is paying the bills and allowing me to develop my new part time job as a real estate agent.
  7. We took family vacations to Arkansas, the beach, Austin, etc…. All with my girlfriend, her two kids and my two girls.
  8. Life is so good I just can’t help but smile

Please note that I will no longer update this blog.  I have decided to remove the veil of anonymity and direct this link to my new website and blog for real estate.  http://www.cbowie.com

If there is anyone that still reads this blog please jump over to cbowie.com and join me in my next adventure of life.

For all of you that helped me battle through the roughest point in my life…. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  You and I will probably never meet.  But you are just as important to my “well being” as any real friend I have known for years.  Without your support, understanding, attention I would of never made it through the separation and divorce.  Each night that I could not sleep I always knew I had a window in to a world online that could add a balm to my anxiety.

Thank you and follow me.

Oh, yea… If you need any real estate needs please contact me!  Even in different states other than Texas.  I can get a referral fee! haha… Hope to see you on the other side.

May beginnings

So I am going into May with a smile.  Soccer season for my youngest is coming to an end.  She has had an up and down season.  Some games sluggish and then we find out she is sick, other games great… So goes the season.  Yesterday she battled very hard for the first half.  Had a goal and a couple assists…  Second half she comes out lethargic.  After games she says she is exhausted.  Little worried.  Need to monitor her.

R is on the job search.  Hopefully she lands something this week.

School is ending for the girls in the next 3 weeks.  Finals, AP exams, etc…

The Brady Bunch was out and about this past Friday night.  Both my girls and their boyfriends, M, my new girlfriend, and her two twins.  Plus my buddy J and his daughter met us.  It was a regular Brady Bunch get-together.  We all went to dinner and then to see the Avengers.  Good movie.. But I will never sit through another 3D movie again.  I don’t know how or why people prefer 3D.  Gave me a headache, blurry, dark, and hard to see.  BLAH… no thanks.

This week will be tough… M and her twins are in Washington DC for their 8th grade trip.  I’m going to miss her!

Another May is here.

Getting ready for Summer

A Proud Father Moment

I know my girls will never read this because this blog is anonymous!  But I just wanted to put it in writing.  Not so much for them; but for me.

Another proud Dad moment!

Last night the girl’s high school held their Soccer Banquet. It was a great night of awards for my two girls.

R – (Junior) – 3 year starter
3rd year in row of 1st Team All District,
3rd Year in row of 1st Team All Academic District
Voted Team Captain
1st year of Defensive MVP for District 19-5A
2nd year in row of Team Defensive MVP

B – (Freshman) – 1 year starter
1st Team All District
1st Team All Academic District
1st Year Team Offensive MVP (led team with 23 goals and 5 assists)

What I am most proud of is the fact both girls are able to dominate on the soccer field at the same time they dominate in the classroom.  Both girls have a high 3.7 GPA while carrying ALL advanced level courses.  (AP, dual credit, etc…)

I love you two and am so proud of all that you have accomplished and the excitement that the future holds for both of you.

I love being your father.

Significance of 4/20

Educators, police officers, emergency personnel all can tell you they hate working on April 20 of each year.

Its an Urban Myth as to why 4/20 is so popular.

Some call it the National Marijuana Day.  Dope smokers conventions all across the backyards, basements, parks, playgrounds, etc… across the country are happening at this very moment.  School is out.  And more than likely your teenager is smoking marijuana.

Do you know where your teenager is at this moment?

We have more “work” at the school than any other day.  The schools are crazy and kids are acting like little fools.  Welcome to 4/20.

It all started with Adolf Hitler being born on 4/20!  That’s my story and I am sticking to it.

Columbine Shooting in 1999 was on 4/20.   Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris thought they would set into motion a chain of events that rocked Columbine, Colorado, the nation, and schools across the world.  The single worse school shooting on American soil.  It was horrific.  I have studied this shooting at multiple times throughout my professional career.  Each time I realize how truly sad it was.

Today I made it through 4/20 at work.  I did not have to have any students arrested for marijuana.  We had many joke about it, make rude comments, or act like fools concerning it.  But luckily, nobody went to jail.  This is rare.  I can recall many 4/20s that led to me having students carried away in shackles, leg irons, tased, gassed with pepper spray, etc…  Today was good.

I just hope the country realizes that legalizing marijuana is not the answer.  Breaking Federal Law with State Law is unconstitutional.    We are destroying society with the entitled attitude that comes from many (not all) marijuana smokers.

I’m not here to start a political debate. Just state from my small viewpoint on society.  Marijuana is creating many many problems.  If you do not agree; just keep it to yourself and don’t read my blog.

An ESPN Peach

Can you imagine snuggling up with this lovely woman?

Britt-McHenry-350x307

Her name is Britt McHenry.  She is an ESPN sideline reporter.  If your not familiar with her read this article about her qualifications.

Well, this past week poor little Britt got her car towed.  It happens.  To the best of us.  We run “hot” and get a little angry when this happens.  Usually we are angry with ourselves for parking illegally or whatever the situation is.  We usually just don’t get “towed” because we are following the rules.

If this was to happen… I understand a few choice words for the towing company.  Maybe even the tow-truck driver.  I might yell, “shit!!  Ah crap…. dude, please don’t tow my car!”  maybe even tell the lady taking my money to get my car outta hock, “come on lady…. give me a friggin break!  This fucking sucks.  I can’t believe you guys towed me…!”

Im brainstorming here.  Trying to think about what I would say in this situation.  I do recall being towed in college for parking illegally.  I called MYSELF a friggin idiot douche bag.   I do remember that…

What I don’t remember or can’t imagine is this video.  Listen and see how prettly little Britt handled the situation…

Uber Rain

Our glorious (sarcasm) mayor has decided that Uber is not being “upfront” with it’s licensing practices here in our great city of Houston.

Honestly, I have not Ubered much in the last month.  Maybe 2 times.  I plan on using this as a summer job.  I really only have 5 weeks off in the summer and I have 2 of those 5 used up on vacations already.  So how can I really find a job for 3 weeks?  I can easily go and be an assistant principal at a summer school BUT I am tired of chasing thugs.  I am ready to get away from kids for those 5 weeks.

Each summer in the past I have worked at central office on different discipline and safety “stuff”.  I get paid $200 a day but my hours suck.  The atmosphere sucks at the office.  This is not too bad because its an extra $800 a week (we work Monday-Thursday) for 3 weeks.  So $2400 on top of my salary.  Great spending money.

So… I really don’t want to work there this summer.  I need a break.  So, I started thinking I could UBER again.  Maybe drive people into downtown in the morning.  Drive around the “surge” areas during the mornings and then grab some lunch.  I could make $100 a day maybe?  So it isn’t quiet $2400 but I could probably make $1500.  Plus add some weekend and night times again in May to reach $2500 or so…

Here is deal…

A Uber driver in Houston got arrested… read here

So now Uber de-activated all of our accounts if we have not registered with the city of Houston.  I don’t live in Houston but according to Uber, it does not matter.  So… I have been shut down.

Now we have to jump through the cities hoops to get registered:

  • get fingerprinted for $40
  • take drug test and physical $70
  • get city of Houston warrant check $20 (plus $5 to park)
  • buy fire extinguisher
  • take all forms down to courthouse and wait in line to get registered

No big deal right?

ha

I have a full time job!  So yesterday I left work and got fingerprinted.  Today I left work and got drug test (I passed in case you were curious) and physical.  I also got the warrant check!

Making progress in the rain!!

The Bowels of Defensive Driving

I am stuck in the middle of an online defensive driving course!  I got a speeding ticket.  Yes… I am an idiot.  My first ticket in 12 years… I wasn’t paying attention to the speed.  It was in a work-zone.  I’m a fool.

REGARDLESS…

I got a flyer in the mail for at $25 online ‘Comedy’ defensive driving course.  It is not funny.  There is absolutely zero comedy involved.

Please feel for me…

Going back to the program…

Apartment Love

When I first left my beautiful home I moved into a single 1 bedroom apartment in the only complex in my girl’s school attendance zone.  I had to get the 1 bedroom and go on a “waiting list” for the larger 2 bedroom.  At first I was a little perturbed.  They stuck me in this first floor apartment in the very back.  I was isolated.  My patio faced the boundary fence and on the other side was a 24 hour clinic.  I would never see another human being.  Sitting on my patio with wonder dog Fred was quiet.  Lonely even…  No noise…  The guy next to me backed into my truck causing a simple scratch.  He left his name on number on a note under my windshield wiper.  If I would of not got this note I would of never talked to anyone by this apartment.

I finally got to move to the 2 bedroom.  It was in the center of the complex.  Downstairs and full of the hustle bustle activity.  I’m sitting here at 7:11 pm typing this looking out my window and watching people walk by.  This place is like grand central station.  Every neighbor makes more noise than you can possible imagine.  On Friday and Saturday nights I think they have Fight Club in the parking lot.  Luckily I am a sound sleeper and don’t really give a shit about noise.

I’m actually entertained. I absolutely love to be in the center of the world.  I think I would prefer to live in a studio warehouse apartment above a bar in downtown Houston.   I will grab a beer and sit on the patio and watch the 20-somethings argue about what-nots.  Its cheap reality television for me.

My blinds in the bedroom rarely are closed.  I notice that I get ready at 4:45 AM and its still dark outside.  I shower and then stand naked at the sink fixing hair, applying deodorant, etc….  I leave the bathroom door open because it fogs up the mirror if I don’t.  I know the people in the parking lot probably get to see my ass every morning if they would care enough to get up that early for a fun show.  But due to the fact I walk Fred at 4:40 AM every morning I am all alone again.  Nobody in an apartment wakes up that early.  This is a night crowd place.  Most of the young 20-somethings go to work in the afternoon wearing restaurant aprons, tight fitting shorts, or uniforms.  I have multiple college degrees make enough money to put me in a high tax bracket and I’m living in the same type of place I drank myself silly when I was in college.

Living the dream!

I ran across this video and had to crack myself up.  I think this is brilliant.  I’m thinking of moving upstairs just to come up with these ideas.

What a way to pass time!

Soccer Season comes to an end

Readers  –

I know I have posted a few times about my daughters playing soccer and our quest for the state championship here in the little state of Texas.  Well that will end until next year!

We ran into a buzz-saw on Friday night.  A team from SW Houston came in and destroyed us.  It was not so much they destroyed us; it was the fact that a few of our players just “quit” after going down.

That bothers me more than anything…

My two girls have grown up around me and my silly motivational speeches, quotes, videos…  They understand that integrity of playing hard on a team.  Never giving up… Fighting harder than everyone else.  I always explain that they may run into players or people that are better, stronger, faster, prettier, etc… Because you can not control that.  But what you can control and should never run into someone that “wants it more” than you do.  The heart of a champion.  The heart to fight longer and harder than your opponent.  To live harder than others… You can control that.  You can make yourself keep going…  You can will yourself to the next level.

So….  Watching my daughters get upset at the players that “gave up” was hard on so many levels… But made me proud on so many more.

Congratulations my two fabulous daughters… What you have accomplished this year is extraordinary:

  • Maintained all A and B in school.  Both girls taking all advanced level classes.  AP and Dual Credit.  R gaining 21 hours of college credit as a junior in high school.  B gaining 3 as a freshman in high school.
  • B making and dominated the varsity soccer team with her junior sister as a freshman… Accumulating 23 goals to lead the entire district… again, as a freshman!
  • R playing rock solid defense and never having her side of the field give up a goal the entire season.  Only giving up 2 goals all season as a team.
  • R making state in UIL choir
  • B becoming the editor of the school newspaper (as a freshman!)
  • B being named Athlete of the week for the entire city of Houston, Texas

I could go on with this list but you get the drift.  But whats so impressive is the fact they did all of this as their home life BLEW UP around them.  Their parents exploded.  As you can read in the blog, this past summer we went from a perfectly normal family of 4 to a divorced, divided family.  The girls living in my apartment and staying a few nights a week at their mothers 30 minutes away.

That is what I call heroic.  I can not be more proud of my two and the people they are growing up to be.

Playoffs 3rd Round

Not sure if you guys really want the “play-by-play” of my daughter’s playoffs.  But your getting it anyway!

Round 3 was two nights ago… Was a tough tough team.  We came out with a quick lead on a weakass penalty free kick from just outside the box.  Should never of been called but we will take the 1-0 lead.

Then we gave up 2 goals.  Went down 1-2.

Little B took the ball at the half-way line and beat her defender.  Slide the ball to another forward who one-touched it back to a sprinting B.  B had the center back hit her hard so she was able to spin around and kicked the ball up for a volley and blasted the ball on the up bounce into the left upper 90 of the goal from about 25 yards out.  Brilliant.  Best goal I have seen EVER by little B.  Tied 2-2

We give up a goal in the beginning of the 2nd half; down 2-3.  1:47 seconds left in the game.  The girls are all dog tired.  Big R is a wall in defense.  Sliding into girls, blocking shots with her body, chasing streaking forward all over the place.  They dominated possession.  B is getting pissed.  Many of the girls are giving up.  Cramping, our mid-fielder is throwing up on the sidelines, 2 injuries.  We have nobody to sub… Big R has to come out because both knees are bleeding and the ref spots them.  Quickly the trainer tapes them up.. Its a marathon.  Nail biter.  I have a head-ache from yelling and the tension.

1:47 seconds left, Little B takes the ball 10 yards outside the box.  Goes to her left.  Steps past a defender and the center back is rushing toward her.  She hits a hard left-footed goal just above the goal-keepers stretched hand and into the bottom of the crossbar.  Ball bounces into the ground past the goal line for a goal!  We go friggin nuts!!!  Dog-pile in the goal box.  Girls are crying… B is jumping up and down like a maniac.  I’m shedding tears high fiving my father, my buddies who all came out to watch the girls dominate… Big R races down the field in a full spring and picks Little B up and tackles her again!  Its one of the most impressive moments of my life.

Go into double over time (2 – 10 minute over times)  and the score remains 3-3.  Its time for penalty kicks to decide the winner.  Little B sprints out to the spot 1st and takes the ball from the ref places it quickly on spot and bounces as if saying to the ref, “Come on chump; blow the damn whistle”.  Whistle blows and Little B blasts it into the right corner for the first goal!  Our keeper makes 3 miraculous saves and we win the friggin game!!

WOO HOOO

On to Regional Semi-finals (2 games away from state!!).  This Friday at 4.

Both girls are in the ice bath yesterday and today… Lets go girls!
